The Anointing—The Holy Spirit Teaches

1 John 2:26–27

I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. As for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as His anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in Him.

═══ OPORD ═══

WHO: Believers indwelt by the Holy Spirit; false teachers trying to mislead; Christ Who anoints.

WHAT: The Holy Spirit’s presence within believers is sufficient to guide them into truth.

WHERE: In the inner life of believers; the Holy Spirit’s witness confirms truth.

WHEN: Received at conversion; remains throughout; leads into all truth (John 16:13).

HOW: Justification brings the indwelling Spirit; sanctification is learning to hear and follow His guidance; glorification perfects our communion with Him.

We are not left as orphans vulnerable to every false teacher. The Holy Spirit Who anointed us teaches us. This is not individualism but empowerment—the Spirit confirms Scripture and guards us from deception. Justification brings the Spirit. Sanctification is becoming attuned to His voice. Glorification is when we will know fully as we are known.

═══ PRAYER ═══

Holy Spirit, thank You for anointing me and remaining in me. Help me hear Your voice distinctly amid competing voices and to trust Your guidance.

═══ DAILY CHALLENGES ═══

  1. Spend quiet time listening to the Holy Spirit’s direction on a decision you’re currently facing, writing down what He impresses on your heart.
  2. Test a spiritual teaching against Scripture today, asking the Holy Spirit to confirm what is true and expose what is false.
