Day 9 — February 9, 2026: Spiritual Blindness — Forgetting What God Has Done

Salvation Tense: Sanctification Warning (Present Tense)

2 Peter 1:9 — “For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.”

═══ OPORD ═══
WHO: The believer who has stopped growing. This is a warning to those who coast after justification without pursuing sanctification.
WHAT: A believer who does not add the virtues becomes spiritually blind (tuphlos) and nearsighted (muopazon — squinting, seeing only what is immediately in front of them). Worse, they have forgotten their justification — the cleansing from their old sins. This is not a loss of salvation but a loss of perspective. When you forget what God saved you from, you lose motivation to grow. You begin to live like the world because you have forgotten you were delivered from it.
WHERE: In the heart and mind — spiritual blindness is an internal condition that affects all external behavior.
WHEN: Anytime a believer drifts. This can happen at any stage of the Christian life. Complacency is the enemy of sanctification.
WHY: Because the enemy’s strategy is to make you forget. If he can get you to forget justification, you will neglect sanctification. If you forget the cross, you will not carry yours. Memory is a weapon in spiritual warfare — remembering what God has done fuels present obedience.

═══ PRAYER ═══
Lord, do not let me forget. I was blind, and You gave me sight. I was dead in sin, and You raised me to life. I was guilty, and You declared me righteous. Forgive me for any season of coasting or complacency. Restore my spiritual vision. Help me to see clearly — both the cross behind me and the mission ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
